Tonight I went with my daughter to her young womens program,

I really enoyed it began with the song "I'm trying to be like Jesus" and then the opening prayer given by my daughter. The first talk was given by my Freind Andrea, who is the YW President, basically she went over what the girls will be doing for the upcoming year and some of the things they have already been doing such as making baby blakets for women in the church who have babies, and working on thier personal progress books, Personal Progress is a goal they set and by doing certian things in their books, they can earn a medallion and more importantly learn values they will use for the rest of thier lives.

Next the YW Presented the Young Women Values:

The Young Women Theme
We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us,and we love him.
We will "stand as witnesses of God at alltimes and in all things, and in all places..." as we strive to live the Young Women Values, which are:

Faith
Divine Nature
Individual Worth
Knowledge
Choice and Accountability
Good Works
andIntegrity
We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values,we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation.
(See Mosiah 18:9)

One girl at a time went up and said a value.

They then presented a really cute skit , I will condense it and just say, They where pretending to have a slumber party and talking about boys and the prom, while one girl was trying to make a dress, they all encouraged her and talked about the young womens values while she compleated the dress. They even had little songs for the values.

Then a women from our church (Mary) gave a talk on being more like Jesus, One of the parts of the talked that I liked was when she was talking about dealing with her children or things in her home the needed to be done and when she get upset or not want to do something she would think would Jesus get upest like this or would Jesus live in a house like this? She also told a story about a crippled boy who worked at a trian station many yrs ago and how a man in a hurry knocked over his stand and kept going and the another man stopped to help the little boy clean up and gave him $5 and told him this should cover your loss. The little boy looked up at the man and said are you Jesus Christ, He said No son but I am trying to do as he would do.

She told the girls we all understand that they are living in times that are very different, but that they still need to keep this thought in mind.

She then gave each girl a trian car with this quote tied around it;

"the man stopped as the boy asked, Are you Jesus Christ? "
"By the look on his face, It was obvious the commuter was embarrassed by the question. But he smiled and said "no son. I am not Jesus Christ, But I am tring to do what he would do if he was here"

There where two more Speakers one from the Bishopric and the other from the 1st conselor (susan) to the YM. They where also good but basically reiterated the theme of being like Jesus.
There was also a hand out from susan it said;
Many times true winners in life are those who have been hurt and dissapointed but have risen above these challenges. Very often in life God gives us difficulties to bring out the best in us. Life does not determine winners. Winners determine life!!
The closing song was "Come, Follow Me"

A closing prayer and refreshments summed up the night.

The refreshment were, bite sized pumkin pies, and kripy kreame donughts with lemon aid.

This is the flyer/card my daughter brought home from school. This is an event for 14-17 yr olds!
Yes it says Tempted 2 touch! www.fresh2defevents.com Check out thier web site you can see it really is for teens.

This started as a response to my comment section, and turned into a post.

Hello everyone my daughter got the 411 at school today and said she is so glad she did not go & I was right! Wow!?

She said her friends told her most of the kids showed up drunk and dressed for a xxx movie, that the "young ladies" where getting grouped on & pulled on by the "young men" and there was a girl only kissing contest, that was broken up by the police, who cleared the place out.

I had a friend come over yesterday and tell me how mad her daughter, was at her because she could not go. Her daughter had not showed her the flyer and she was pissed when I showed it to her - she said "see she knew if she had showed me that I would have said no, right off."

Her daughter is 6 weeks older than my daughter and they use to be friends but are no longer cuz my daughter will not hang out with the kind of kids she hangs out with, her mother was even susprised that my daughter had asked to go and told her "thats not the kind of place for you."

Don't worry my daughter is allowed to go to a lot of events, she goes to young womens (kinda like girl scouts) every wedensday and she is allowed to go to school dances and events. Plus she has traveled all over the west coast with her school marching band.

I just had to do a follow up post because I did not want you guys thinking I was crazy superstrict mom, I pick and choose my battles. Hey My daughter even helped me with input for this blog-I asked her if she had anthing she wanted to add to this post and she said she lost respect for the guy she likes and she is disgusted that girls she knows where having a making out contest.

Ok tell me what you think.

Clubs for 14-17 olds ??!!!!

My daughter brought home a flyer (card) from, a teen night club, let me tell you it had a half naked women on the front and said it was for 14-17 yr olds, and the event was to be held on a sunday night. I thought the flyer was for a strip club. My dad and I just laughed at her, Like she ever had a chance of going....

Frist off - it was on a sunday, now I am old fashioned but on sunday there is no shopping clubbing, or hanging out. Sundays are for family and church.

2nd - the women on the glossy card was only wearing a tiny tube top barely covering her boobees , with all her mid-drift showing.

3rd - it cost 20.00 bones to get up in there-- please!

I do not need any more reasons, cuz I am the Mom.

I am mad at the school for allowing these cards to be handed out during the school day, they will be hearing from me. Our children have enough distractions to deal with on a daily basis with out a (bleep) trying to make a buck off of them and poison thier minds at such a young and impressionable age.

I may not have the popular opinion for this day and age, but I would rather be unpopular than complacent, that is how our people and our country got to the state it is in now. Just think back 20 years, you would not even see 1/8 of the disgusting crap you now see onTv or hear on the radio.

I have a lot of opposition from the world, All I can do is try. When we become complacent, we lose and the advasary wins. It is kinda like boiling crabs, if you put them in nice warm water and and slowly, slowy turn up the heat, they will just hang out and die.

This post has been edited...

Thank you to everyone who left me comments; Regarding our friend Ron Morris.
I have not been feeling like posting much this week I kinda wanted to just leave Ron's post up. Today is the funeral & and I am sure it will be hard, the strange thing is I have gone to 2 baby showers in the past 7 days. www.theargusonline.com has a very nice feature where people can leave messages in a guest book for Ron, People from all over have signed it. Very nice tribute.
I will tell you about the funeral Monday.
We went to the funeral today, There had to be over 1000 people if not more, I was able to find a seat upstairs, they did a picture show and I was crying, everybody was! The part I really took in was the diverse people there, I am not kidding there where rich people all the way to a few homeless people, every race of people, bikers in harley shirts and people in suits, guy in raiders jerserys, including his brother. Everyone was there for one reason to honor Ron. My favorite part was how everyone treated everyone like brothers and sisters. Some of the people we knew hugged us and one guy told my dad Ron loved you. That made my dad feel good. I was able to hug Ron's son and tell him how good his dad was to my dad, it was very sweet, he is so young but I could see he has had to grow up in this past week. He patted my daughter on the back as we walked away. I did not think I would cry so much. Ron loved his sons and I hope they will find a way to continue and grow, so they can have the lives they deserve to have and not let these thugs, take that in addition to thier Father.

My daughter is talking in full sentences; it is pretty funny she says things like Excuse me mommy, I need to go nite nite, can I have some milk. or I miss my ______ insert any name.
She is really in to saying her prayers also she will fold her arms and say mommy, daddy, Ena-(her sister), gamma, bop-pa, chi-yi, elmo, amen. then everyone has to say amen and if you don't she will remind you. OH One funny thing she will do is -- I will ask her to wake up her sister and she will say NOW ENA, GET UP! Wonder where she learned that ;) .

I went for a walk on wedensday at 7am, Now I know Most people do not like rain but I love it, It was a drizzle and light rain mix, I have a stroller cover (thats not my stroller) and my D&B umbrella mine's pink(not that that matters but I love it). I am lucky to have a really great stroller, It pushes so nicely with one hand. So I walked to Starbucks and my little one also loves the rain so 1/2 the time she was singing - "its raining" I have to put rain boots and a rain coat on her because she loves puddles.

At starbucks I had chantico- now this is not for the average hot Chocolate drinker it is called drinking chocolate for a reason! I have invented my own version, I have them pour it into 1/2 a cup of steamed milk and it becomes a rich hot coco. Try it you will like it. we watched the rain and then when the dollar store opened we went over there, they have some great Valentines day items, for your girlfriends. If you do an exchange, check it out, you might be susprised.

I also had lunch at Panera with my friend Andrea, it was her treat so that makes it even better. Thanks Andrea! With took all 3 kids they where pretty good, Well my daughter did dance around the store so I put her in a high chair, Andrea --- I won't mention that Brayden poked me till I had to move over. ;) I had the baked potato soup and the bistro steak salad. With out knowing Andrea had picked out the same thing! Too funny. We brought the the kids food, pb and J, bananas and raisans and capri sun. I know how tacky but , a Pb and J there is like 4 bucks!

I also went to a baby shower on thursday it was fun, we played a game, where you have to match the names of famous people babies to the parents, it was cool. I got 17 out of 21.

I was the only one with pink on, so I did get a prize!

Have a great Friday and an even better Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rest in Peace, Ron.

On Friday at 11am, My Father's freind of nearly 30 years, was murdered.

He was shot in the head, during a take over robbery at his Pawn Shop. The Burgulars took about six guns and fled.

He was a kind and generous man who my father met while doing business in his store, as long as I can remember we have know Ron. On Saturday, my daughter went out to get the paper and when I opened it there on the front page was his picture and the words "Owner killed". It was really a shock. I ran in my dad's room to tell him and at the same time my mom had called so my daughter told her what had happened. We got ready and went to leave flowers at the store.

He ran a succesful Jewelry and loan that his father had run before him. Most poeple think of these types of places as shady, dark hole in the walls, where people go to sell, stolen items, Not so, Ron treated people with repect, gave people deals and gave people chances.

I remember when my Fathers mother died, My dad went in there to sell some things, so he could send money back east, and Ron asked what's wrong? What's going on? My dad told him and he gave my dad the $500 to send, this was in the 80's so $500, was worth more back than. I remember my dad crying. (One of the few times.)

I remember When NWA was out, And Ron had some cds for sale, yes back then you could pawn cd's. I wanted to get it and He said these guys are glorifing guns, why do want to listen to them? I was a teen, I didn't care, but he was right. (It was that cover where they are standing looking down at the camera with machine guns in there hands. )

I just bought my Daughter her pink Ipod mini with the acessories for $130.00, I went in and ask Ron " do you have any ipod's I need one for Chrissys Birthday and he said "oh yeah those music playing things, I have a pink one, son go get that for her.(his son worked with him after school), I only had a few bucks so he let me put 20.00 on it, and held it till I got the rest.

He would give the kids movies at christmas time or video games, He was one of the only places I remember having mixed drinks for his customers on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. I am sure a lot of you would have liked that!

I guess I could go on and on but really He will be missed by everyone in our community. He leaves behind 2 teen sons, His Father and Mother and a brother and a sister, And a lot of people that will miss him dearly.

If you would like to read more about this go to yahoo news and type in Fremont Jewelry and Loan.

We love You Ron.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!!!!

Today is the 2nd anniversary of the day my "lovely" husband walked out on me. I have kinda written on this before; but it was such a life chaging day.

I do not really want to go over that day agian. Its draining.

So what have I done since that day?,

I moved in with my Dad when my daughter was 3 weeks. , which was really blessing because he became serverly sick and twice, there where times if we had not been here he would have died, for real! He has been put on the liver transplant list at Stanford and I know we are meant to be here.

I am able to stay home with my girls, My Daddy has a good "teamster" retirement ( Yea for unions!) and with that and the child support, my girls don't want for anything.

I was able to get my car paid off and and my "husband" signed it over to me, it was in both our names. It's a camry - perfect mommy car. Lots of trunk room.

I also made friends with alot of other Stay at home Moms, which is nice, except thay all have hubbies - which can be real annoying sometimes.

I also found out it is not that easy being home and entertaining a baby and a granpa- never mind cooking all day! Sometimes- I am all "where's my resume I gotta get a JOB!" (That passes quickly)

Blogging, I found blogging, I enjoy getting so many different takes on things. I also love having other types of women and men to interact with. Sometimes the cookie cut'er people around here don't have a clue as to my kind of issues- you know BD's, DWB, hip hop in general, basically being a black women & raising black children.

Anyway my "husband" is moody- check out the pic of him on my flick'r, thats the norm, for those of you who read C&D, Our pics always look like Mr. Dash and his woman. Those pics always have me rolling on the floor! Thanks to Fresh for the picture.

Well I guess after writing this I can say it is a Happy Anniversary!

I just had to add this - this my horoscope for today -brought to me by earthlink.

If by chance you still have some resentment against someone, it will probably come out today, dear Cancer. You may be uncompromising, or even vengeful. So vent your anger in a healthy way, such as in some form of intense physical activity. Picking up the telephone to tell that person how you're feeling will accomplish nothing, other than cause you both pain and regret. Besides, they really mean what they've been saying for so long now. That's right, they do care about you. To quote my little one-"TOO FUNNY"

Tuesday, January 03, 2006

Its already tuesday. WTH? (H=heck)
My daughter goes back to school today, she is going to be SLEPPY! She has been staying up late and getting up even later. Oh well, we all did it. Some still do.

I am going to go somewhere today. I have been staying in the house except for church on sunday. It has been raining here in Ca, maybe you heard? Thank goodness for the internet, what did we do before.
That reminds me, direct Tv is also helpful. I watched the flavor of love (kinda like a gettho version of "the bachelor"), starring Flavor Flav, its almost as good as Being Bobby Brown. A train wreck you can not look away from. I also watched celebrity fit club- some funny stuff, I will have to say thank to the BD he told me they where on - he is up on every thing entertainment ( a little too much if you ask me) .

On the home front my little one who has not had a bottle for like a year, saw some in the closet and told me "I need a baba" Who am I to argue, maybe if she drinks out of a bottle I can get her to stop nursing; she will be 2 in a month a 2 days!
You are White Chocolate
You have a strong feminine side with a good bit of innocence thrown in.Whether your girlish ways are an act or not, men like to take care of you.You are an understated beauty, and your power is often underestimated!
What Kind of Chocolate Are You?

I will finish this later baby wants me to come lay down with her.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone. I am happy to say; the old year is behind us and the new year is here. I have been trying to think of "Good" resolutions. I guess my list will go a little something like this:

1. Be more patient w/ all of my family members.
This is a big one cuz sometimes they really do get on my nerves.
2. Be more dedicated to the Gosple.
I need to read every day and really listen, with out the gosple in my life, I do not know where I would be.
3. Say things outloud.
You know what I mean.
4. Talk thigs out with Anwar(BD).
He will not like it, he may even act like I am not talking; but it has to be done.
5. Get in shape!
Now I am not ugly, but I want to look extra cute. I know, I know, that is superficial but it will make me happy, and if I am happy, It will make #1 eaiser.
Now this list looks small, but these are some huge goals for me. I am glad I have found these blogs, thanks to C&D. I enjoy reading them and can not believe poeple take the time to read mine. Stay tuned, Cuz when #4 comes around; I am sure, I will have pleanty of drama to write about.
Ps - My real #1 goal, Find all of the cable box remotes, I am tired of sharing. ;)
